Automation to the max! Previously, when 3D scanning an object at SAM XL, we had to manually enter the poses for the scanning robot. This morning, Mink Verschure gave a demo of his internship project on Capture Pose Optimization for 3D reconstruction, where he paved the way towards automation of this step.
Mink showcased both a feasible way to solve it, as well as highlighting the challenges associated with developing a system consisting of so many hardware and software components. Great job Mink, it was a pleasure having you at SAM XL!
