Expanding AFP capabilities
SAM XL has expanded its capabilities with a new AFP head for producing and pre-impregnating composite parts.
Our 8 degree of freedom KUKA robot is now equipped with a new ADD-composites AFP head. This new end effector enables the production of fibre structures, as well as prepreg thermoset and thermoplastic components.
A major asset in our latest challenge: developing production methods for liquid hydrogen tanks. These tanks will enable light weight and long-life storage of liquid hydrogen fuel in civil aviation; an important sustainability goal.
Building on our experience – with AFP of dry tapes, filament winding and composites lay-up manufacturing – we will develop advanced manufacturing methods for the production thermoplastic tanks.
