SAM XL was pleased to participate in the SAMPE Europe 2025 Conference, held in Amsterdam from 6–8 October. The event brought together close to 400 professionals from across the composites community, making it one of the most well-attended editions to date.
The holy grail
As part of our contribution to the conference, we presented recent developments in Continuous Ultrasonic Welding of thermoplastic composites (TPCs). Fusion bonding, often referred to as the “holy grail” of thermoplastic composites, represents a major step forward in enabling efficient, lightweight, and sustainable manufacturing for aerospace and other high-performance applications. With our patented Continuous Ultrasonic Welding technology, SAM XL aims to make this capability widely accessible to the composites industry.
Our contribution
During the conference, we were represented in both the exhibition area and the technical sessions. and Bram Jongbloed welcomed visitors to our tabletop to discuss the current research activities and explore new collaboration opportunities. Sungi Han and Johan van Stuyvesant Meijen both gave technical presentations about Continuous Ultrasonic Welding. These presentations highlighted our research focus on automation, process monitoring, and data-driven quality assurance in composite manufacturing.
Full house
On the 8th of October, together with the TU Delft Faculty of Aerospace Engineering we hosted a post-conference tour, which quickly reached full capacity. Participants had the opportunity to ask anything about our facilities and they engaged with our experts on the latest innovations in robotic manufacturing and thermoplastic composite welding.
The visit reflected the strong interest from both academia and industry in bridging research and industrial application—a central mission of SAM XL.
