Great connections at ITHEC

Showcasing our progress on continuous ultrasonic welding, including a new techsplainer!

Great connections at ITHEC

What a great time we had at ITHEC – International Conference and Exhibition on Thermoplastic Composites.

Associate Research Engineer Nigel van Nierop enjoyed his first time on the huge stage, presenting on: “Development of a CF/LMPAEK Stiffened Skin Demonstrator for a Slide Raft Container using Thermoforming and Robotic Continuous Ultrasonic Welding”.

Materials & Process Engineer Abhas Choudhary gave his insights on this research: “Comparative evaluation of Continuous Ultrasonic Welding, Induction Welding and Conduction Welding of CF/LMPAEK: Performance and application potential”.

In the SAM XL history book we can mark some new milestones during the ITHEC conference:

  • Revealing our proprietary and patented continuous ultrasonic welding technology
  • Disclosing significant research outcomes on materials studies and joining methods
  • Endorsement of SAM XL’s work in Airbus’s presentation
  • Evolving from a small co-partner to our own branded booth at ITHEC
  • Multiple high quality thermoplastic composite demonstrators
  • Identified collaboration opportunities with potential partners
